As winter’s chilling cold gives way to spring showers and sunshine, it’s hard not to get excited about summertime on the Olympic Peninsula. Even through this COVID-19 crisis, it’s fun to look forward to all that the Peninsula has to offer.
One fun aspect of spring is that it is the beginning of the festival season. On the Olympic Peninsula we have some amazing festivals start now and extend into late Fall. Although COVID-19 has affected some of these festivals here are a list of some still planned (for up to date details on festivals throughout the Peninsula please visit the Olympic Peninsula website):
Typically held in early May, the Sequim Irrigation Festival has been postponed to October 2-11, 2020.
This event has it all! You can see some amazing feats of strength as men compete in the Strongman Showdown. Your kids can get involved in the festivities by entering the Kid’s Parade.
There is even a Fun Run for those that want to get some exercise in while enjoying the festivities. Probably the most favorite event though is the Logging Show where loggers show off a variety of skills that will leave you amazed!
Held on May 30-31, 2020 at the Ocean Shores Convention Center. Live music, clamming tutorials, a giant slide, “ride the shark”, cotton candy, and amazing food await at this festival. If seafood and clam chowder make your mouth salivate, then this is the festival for you!
July 17-19, 2020. Travel throughout the Sequim area to see some amazing lavender farms. There are a variety of community events held throughout the weekend, and we highly recommend stopping by a booth to try some amazing lavender ice cream. The lavender blueberry cheesecake ice cream is one of our favorites!
August 20-23, 2020. Get ready to end the summer with a bang! The Clallam County Fair has amazing carnival rides, great live music, a rodeo, and much more! Get tickets early for the popular Demolition Derby. As you’re looking for food to eat, be sure to stop by the Gordy’s Pizza booth and see if Emily or Tina (two of our assistants) are working at the booth and be sure to say hi!
These are just a few of the amazing festivals this spring, summer and fall. To find out about more festivals on the Olympic Peninsula please visit the Olympic Peninsula website. Happy Festivaling!!!
